District Exec David Shumate preaches on August 2, 2009

2009 AC Moderator, David Shumate, shared his experiences from the San Diego Annual Conference with the Daleville congregation.  He showed the the beautiful stained glass gift from Daleville to him and the quilt that contained quilt squares from several of the churches he pastored and one from the Virlina District staff.  The picture above is a panoramic view of one of the meeting sessions at conference.  David's sermon was thought provoking and inspiring.  We are blessed to have David, Dorothy, and John David as fellow members at Daleville.  Please see other pictures here.

Heritage Day at Camp Bethel October 3, 2009

Please check out the pictures at Heritage Day.  This is a major fund raising event to support camp activites at Camp Bethel. Fifty churches turned out with all sorts of crafts and good things to sell.  Daleville made their fried apple pies once again and sold all 400.   In addition, Karen Carter, painted pumpkin families to sell.  In all, Daleville was able to raise $900 to help Camp.  It was a beautiful day and lots of fun.  Please check out all the pictures.

 Tribute to Frieda Hiner

On Sunday, November 1, 2009, a surprise 90th birthday party was held to honor Frieda Hiner.  She turns 90 on November 2nd.  Many came out to celebrate with her at a potluck dinner after worship.  Frieda is one of our treasured members and we are so happy that she can celebrate with us. Stewardship Sunday 11/22/09

This Sunday culminated 3 Sundays during Stewardship Commitment month.  A tableau was created by members of the Stewards Commission with Jim Driver helping to accept offerings and commitment cards.  Ivy Luppachino sang the theme song with the congregation joining in for the chorus.  A reception was held to celebrate while people signed up for opportunities to serve during 2010.  This was a wonderful service.  Please check out some of the pictures that Gerry was able to take during the reception.

Women's Christmas Party

The Women had their annual Christmas party at the church last evening.  It was moved from Sandra's home because of snow.  A good time was had by all and Secret Pals were revealed.  Please check here for additional pictures.

Moderator Luncheon

On Palm Sunday, we had the privilege of hearing Annual Conference Moderator, David Shumate, speak during worship and in a potluck luncheon held after church in honor of David and Dorothy.  Here are some pictures taken by Gerry Minter during the potluck celebration.

Middle East Breakfast

On Easter morning, Karen Carter hosted a breakfast consisting of foods typical of the Middle East.  This breakfast was enjoyed by all who attended.  Thanks Karen - the food was terrific and reminded us of food that was available during Christ's life on earth.  Check here for additional pictures.

Teacher Appreciation September 27, 2009

Teachers for last Church School year were honored at a reception after Worship.  Please check out some of the pictures that Gerry Minter took during our reception.  Thanks to all teachers everywhere who volunteer their time and energy to work with children and adults of all ages.

Bless My Sole

Five volunteers joined others at the Roanoke Rescue Mission in September to minister to the homeless and residents of the Rescue Mission in the "Bless My Sole" program.  This program spends time with each person who comes to participate in the program with talking, washing feet, and cleaning nails.  There is a physician and nurse on duty to trim nails and doctor sores and other foot ailments.  The participants seemed to be blessed by this program and we were blessed to serve those less fortunate.  Pastor Mary, Heather Ehalt, Sandra Sue Bolton, Lisa Pielocik, and Deb Lawrence represented Daleville.  Please check out a couple of pictures of the evening.

Men's Service Group November 2009 Woodcutting

The Daleville Men's Service Group met with some Botetourt Kiwannis members to cut wood for needy Botetourt County families at Cloverdale on Saturday, November 7th.  Please check out the pictures of these men doing their work for the community.  Thanks to all.

Cantata and Christmas Luncheon 2009

Casimerette Meyer, Choir Director, David Shumatem Narrator, and our Cantata choir presented "He's Still the King of Kings" on Sunday, December 13th.  This was followed by our Christmas luncheon at Camp Bethel.  Please check out the photos.
